Lake District

Only since November 2005 have I been visiting the Lake District on a regular basis. Staying in a variety of different accommodation ranging from hotels to B&Bs, rented cottages to camp sites. While taking most opportunities available to me to visit The Lakes two of my most memorable walks are Helvellyn in 2007 and Coledale Horseshoe in 2011. The reason I enjoyed these the most was because we never used the car. We walked out of our accommodation, turned left, walked up the mountain and back down straight in to the pub… A perfect days walk.

Below is a list of my walks with links to pictures from the day and details of the walk.

EASY

Castle Crag
An comfortable walk around 3 miles with just over 200m of climbing taking around 2hr. There is a steepish finish over scree, however there is a path to the side for the less adventurous.
Cat Bells

Loughrigg Fell
A nice 4 mile walk lasting about 2hr 20mins only climbing around 300m with spectacular views over lake Windermere.
Place Fell
With a climb of 500m and distance of 7.6 miles allow around 4hr 30mins for this walk that gives great views over Glenridding.
