Accommodation

Only since November 2005 have I been visiting the Lake District on a regular basis. Staying in a variety of different accommodation ranging from hotels to B&Bs, rented cottages to camp sites. Below is a list and links to accommodation that I have stayed at. All have been more than satisfactory and I have repeated my stays in some more than once.

Cottages

  • Sharpstones – Lovely cottage north of Keswick in Thornthwaite. Well furnished with shower room & separate bathroom, well stocked for cooking etc., easy parking but no pets.
  • Sunset Cottage – Many of the guests comment that one of their favourite things about Sunset Cottage is the excellent location, being a 2 minute walk from Ambleside. The cottage enjoys a peaceful, secluded location with good views of the fells, particularly of Loughrigg. For all 2012 bookings, you will have free use of the excellent facilities at Low Wood Leisure Club for the entire period of your stay.

Campsites

  • Scotgate – A fantastic campsite with modern amenity block, on-site licensed store, tea-room with Wi-Fi & easy parking. Just a 2 minute walk from the Royal Oak pub in Braithwaite.
  • Braithwaite Bridges – Is the sister campsite of Scotgate, just across the main road. This site offers a more tranquil woodland setting still with a modern toilet & shower block, easy parking and a 10 minute walk from Braithwaite.

B&B’s/Pubs

  • Royal Oak – Set in the quaint village of Braithwaite, the Royal Oak is a traditional Lakeland country inn. With 10 en-suite bedrooms, offering B&B for residents & non-residents, packed lunches for fell walkers & an Wi-Fi network this place is a must to visit.
  • Mosscrag – Sitting at the foot of Helvellyn and around 300 yards from the shores of Ullswater, in Glenridding, Mosscrag is in a perfect setting for both hill walkers and sailors.
